Lost Creek Wilderness

We went camping last weekend at Lost Creek Wilderness. Summer is finally here, so Blue House Photography has been trying to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather as much as possible. Only as soon as we got to our campsite, it started to rain. Then it started to hail (for about an hour and half...) It finally stopped, but soon started to rain and hail again. When it did finally stop for good, the sun came out, we got to see a beautiful double rainbow and some really great light for photos. So, I guess it was worth it!

Mt. Silverheels Hike

I climbed Mt. Silverheels last Saturday with a group of seven other women. It was a great time (and fun to do a trip without the guys.) Mt. Silverheels was named for a dance hall girl who was the only woman that stayed in town and took care of sick miners during a small pox epidemic. So, it only seemed appropriate that this was a girls only day.
The elevation of Silverheels is 13,822' and is a 9 mile round trip hike. We saw no other hikers all day, which is always a nice surprise when hiking along the Front Range. Hiking a 13-er (13,000 feet) doesn't have the "prestige" of hiking the nearby 14-ers, which probably explains the lack of other hikers.
All in all, a great day!

Jeni and Casey are having a baby!

I had the pleasure of photographing Jeni and Casey a few weeks ago for a maternity session. Blue House Photography shot their wedding a few years ago and it's always great to see our past clients moving on to the next stage as a family. They were so much fun to shoot and Jeni was so great with ideas and bringing props for the shoot. Hope you enjoy viewing the photos as much as I did shooting and editing them!

Backpacking West Elk Wilderness

We at Blue House Photography took a couple weeks off from blogging but not to worry we are back. Over Memorial Day Weekend Delia, myself, and several of our friends took off to the West Elk Wilderness near Crested Butte and Gunnison (not near anything, actually) for some backpacking. It was a pretty remote trail and we didn’t see anyone one else- of course that was kinda the point. It was good to get out of the city for a little bit and it was a great trip. Big Buck!

I came across this big buck today while driving through Evergreen. I believe it's an elk. I've been shooting in Evergreen and Conifer, the foothills of Denver, in the last couple of weeks covering for the Obeo photographer who normally covers this area. He's been gone on vacation and I've enjoyed exploring the new territory. Although I'll be happy to give it back because I've been putting on the miles. This shot makes all that driving worth it.

Suzy and Aaron Engagement Photos

This past weekend I went back to Ohio for my sister Suzy's bridal shower. Being the big sis, I have many duties to fulfill for the September wedding. (Including 4 trips back to Ohio in 6 months... Oy!) We had a great time though and I shot some engagement photos for Suz and Aaron while I was there. Every time I go back to Cincinnati to visit, I am struck by how lush everything is compared to Colorado. We shot the majority of the photos in their backyard which I think made the perfect backdrop. Enjoy!

Access Denver

As you’ve seen previously on this blog Blue House Photography does some work for the Denver Metro Chamber. The following photos are from a two-day program called Access Denver that the DMC Leadership Foundation does each Spring. The program takes about 50 senior executives on a two-day program offering informational sessions and social events designed for senior level Denver area executives. The program provides information on local business and civic issues, access to Denver’s leaders, and seeks to get these executives active in the community. This year the program focused on topics such as the future of Metro Denver, the political landscape, the economic scene, the arts scene, sports & tourism, transportation, and education.
