Denver State of the City Luncheon

Blue House Photography photographed the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce's State of the City Luncheon today. Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper gave a keynote address and awarded the Monte Pascoe award to Kenzo Kawanabe (pictured). The event was hosted at the Sheridan Denver Downtown Hotel. Denver Sports venues

I had an opportunity to capture some nice views from one of the condos I was photographing today. These are images of Invesco Field at Mile High where the Broncos play, the Pepsi Center where the Nuggets and Avalanche play, and Coors Field- home of the Rockies. One of the ongoing projects Blue House Photography is working on is building up our stock and scenic library and in particular shots of the Denver skyline. I hope everyone enjoys!

Zondervan Movie Premier

I photographed a movie premier for a Christian Publishing Company called Zondervan a couple weeks back. They were having their national convention in Denver this year and wanted to use a local photographer. They chose Blue House Photography. We've done a couple shoots for companies having meetings and conventions in Denver. One of Zondervan's authors, Karen Kingsbury had her book "Like Dandelion Dust" turned into a movie by Fox. Above are a couple shots of the warmup act, Britt Nicole, and then a Q&A with the Ms. Kingbury and the movies Producers, Bobby & Kevin Downes.

Mt. Ouray

A few weeks ago Liz, a friend of mine, organized a trip to Mt. Ouray, just outside of Poncha Springs, about 3 hours south of Denver. We camped the night before and then got up early to start the trek.
Mt Ouray is one of the tallest 13ers in the area at 13,971 feet. But, being a 13er, and not a 14er (less prestige in only making it up to only 13,00 feet, I guess), we saw hardly anyone. We had 6 people and 6 dogs in our pack, so that was pretty convenient!
The trip was pretty grueling: 4350 feet of elevation gain in about a 9 mile roundtrip. It was pretty much straight up, then straight down. I'm getting trecking poles next time!
We had some pretty amazing wildflowers along the way and the views from the top were definitely worth it.

Tanya and Shawn

We photographed Tanya and Shawn's wedding last Saturday in Windsor, CO. After all the rain we've been having it was nice to get a sunny day for their mostly outside wedding. The ceremony and reception were held at Shawn's family's house and it was a really nice, intimate wedding. The family had been working hard to landscape and it turned out great! We were able to find ample locations to do photos just on their land. The food was made by Tanya's aunt and uncle and was authentic chuck wagon cooking and the reception was held in the barn. All in all, Luke and I really enjoyed photographing their wedding.

Kristen and Rick

Wow! It's been quite a while since Luke or I have posted anything. You can tell we have gotten into our busy season, not that this is a good excuse to be lazy about the blog.

Well, I photographed Kristen and Rick's wedding a few weeks ago in Colorado Springs. It was a really small, intimate event with just close friends and family. They chose two great locations for photos, Fox Run Regional Park and the Broadmoor Hotel. How can you go wrong with those spots?

I want this house!

Blue House Photography photographs a lot of real estate/ architectural photography. I usually cover North Denver, pretty much from Brighton to Broomfield. (Not that there is really anything wrong with any of these areas, but it all kind of starts to look the same after a while.)

Lately though I've been going to Golden, which I love. I pulled up to this house last week and was prety excited to photograph it. It backs up to the mesa and was just really charming.

It's a bit (okay, a lot) out of my price range, but I thought I'd share a few photos.
